Meet Your Doula

Amanda Macdaniel

In 2018, my husband and I were blessed with the news that I was pregnant with identical twin boys. At 29 weeks and 1 day, I was admitted to the antepartum ward at St. David's North. I had gone into labor and was diagnosed with Pre-Eclampsia. My wonderful care team was able to stop my labor but I spent the next 6 weeks on hospital bed rest. My beautiful boys came at 35 weeks and 3 days, they were able to be released with me and we all went home together.

After my birth, I suffered from Postpartum Depression and PTSD. I am so lucky to have support of my family Austin Parents of Multiples, Partners in Parenting and my community.

After coming out of the newborn fog, I realized that there was such a deficit in support for new families in the postpartum. I trained with ABG Postpartum Doula Training in 2021 and I have been supporting Austin families since.

MY STORY

Why I love being a doula in Austin

I started my Postpartum Doula business by teaching other twin moms gentle sleep training methods. From there I moved into supporting Postpartum families overnight through out the 4th trimester. After supporting parents through the first 12 weeks, I wanted to be able to support them through birth as well. I feel that its important for families to have the option to have their doula next to them throughout the whole journey of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum era.
